Specialized Translation Diploma
Admission Rules in Translation Diploma
. The student must have a bachelor’s degree from one of the Egyptian Universities or an equivalent degree from an accredited (certified) institute from the supreme council of Universities, regardless of the specialization or the year of graduation.
. The graduates of Alazahr University and translation programs in different faculties can apply to the diploma but requiring at least good grade.
. The experienced translators and those who passed the entrance exam by a minimum of 65% can be exempted from this condition
. A written exam will be held in the second week of the academic year and the applicants will be informed of the place and the time of the exam.
. The students with C average will not be accepted UNLESS they pass the entrance exam with the above mentioned percentage
Translation Program Study System
•The program includes core and specialized courses in three branches: “Legal Translation”, “Media Translation”, and “Commercial Translation”. Two new branches, “Educational Translation” and “Scientific/Technical Translation,” will be added upon request.
•The study is divided into two academic years. A student who doesn’t succussed in one or two subjects in the diploma course exams in the first or second year must repeat those subjects only. If they fail more than two subjects, they must take the exam in all subjects. The student will not advance to the second year unless they pass all subjects.
•The diploma program consists of four semesters, with each of the first three semesters including three courses, and the fourth and final semester includes field training or applied study.
•The program is taught by translation specialists and experts in the three professional fields covered – law, media, and business. It also hosts translators and translation professors from various Egyptian universities to conduct lectures and workshops at regular intervals, which are announced at the beginning of each semester.
•A student is allowed to take the exam if their attendance in each course is not less than 75% of the specified hours for that course in the semester in which they are taking the exam.
The required papers for applying to translation program
1- Original copy of bachelor certificate
2- original copy of birth of date certificate
3- Copy of ID .
4-Four personal photos
5- military service status for the male students
6- Employer accredited by the director of health and sealed with the logo seal
7-Degrees record
Required forms for diploma enrolment:
1-Postgraduate studies enrollment form with stamps (5 EGP) + (1 EGP) revenue stamp
2-Declaration of annual fee payment
3-Declaration of compliance with regulations with (1 EGP) revenue stamp
4-Declaration of full-time availability for non-employees
5-Acceptance of a discount for non-employees
6-A statement of employment status form (for employees) from the Graduate Studies Department, to be completed by the employer and approved by the applicant’s personnel department, bearing the official stamp.
7-A declaration of acceptance of the discount for employees, with a stamp fee of (1) Egyptian pound.
Diploma Tuition Fees
The diploma program has its own fees, and the fees for each course, teaching and examination stipends, program supervision stipends, and field training fees are determined according to the tuition fees at equivalent universities and similar programs. A decision regarding these fees is issued by the college council at the beginning of each academic year.
The fee for each course is between 500 and 700 Egyptian pounds for Egyptians and between 100 and 200 US dollars for international students (students study three courses per semester). The fees for each course, as well as teaching, examination, program supervision, and field training stipends, are determined according to the tuition fees at equivalent universities and similar programs, and are approved by the faculty council at the beginning of each academic year.
